Fibre Systems used for DTM series racing
Date: 08-08-2007
The L1282 and L1292 Fibre units are being used as part of the OB set up currently being deployed to cover the German Touring Car Series.Depending on the circuit that needs to be covered anywhere between three and five receive sites are set up around the track with the antennas and downconverters being connected to the L1292 remote fibre unit. Back in the OB truck the base unit is the connected to the receiver from which the video and audio taken.

This set up allows live pictures from four cars with two onboard cameras in each from anywhere on the track. Along with the live onboards there are also a number of roaming cameras in the pit lane and paddock area.
All of these camera signals are being picked up by the receive sites allowing live coverage of these events with the minimum of set up time and the maximum flexibility.
These units have been purchased by a number of hire and broadcast companies and deployed in stadiums, race tracks and even golf courses, and are now slowly replacing conventional triax solutions.
