High Definition Resources of Sweden supplies HD wireless links for Eurovision 2008

The Eurovision Song Contest 2008 was a triumph for the Swedish production company High Definition Resources, who captured the atmosphere and close-up views of the performers using cameras fitted with new HD wireless links from Link Research.High Definition Resources supplied two Steadycam rigs fitted with Link HD transmitters, which moved around in front of the stage. These rigs were used for most of the moving camera shots during the contest, which was broadcast live from Belgrade.
Protel in Bromma, the distributor for Link Research in Sweden, introduced wireless cameras to Swedish TV for sports and news applications in 2003 and has gained considerable expertise with this technology. Protel assisted with setting up the equipment and provided support during Eurovision.
"We are happy to have provided Link systems for the Eurovision Song Contest," says Jan Broman of Protel. "Here, in Sweden, the broadcasters and production companies have a good knowledge of wireless cameras and we were pleased to be involved in an event of this size that would be viewed right across Europe. We have also taken orders for seven more wireless camera systems, all of which will have HD capabilities."
Link's new L1500 systems come with interchangeable frequency modules and optional camera control. Link Research has developed its own modulation scheme called LMS-T which is used to enhance system performance in High Definition and higher frequencies.
