AVS hits home run with 7GHz LINKHD
Date: 06-05-2008

A crowd of 115,300 strong jammed the Los Angeles Coliseum to see Aerial Video Systems LinkHD 7GHz microwave system with camera control and in the process a baseball game broke out.
On Saturday, March 29 a world record baseball crowd saw the Boston Red Sox versus the Dodgers in LA's famed Coliseum to commemorate the Dodger's 50th Anniversary of their move from Brooklyn to the City of Angels in 1958. The Dodgers played their first four seasons in the Coliseum prior to moving to Dodger Stadium in 1962.

KCAL of Los Angeles asked AVS to provide a HD RF camera system to capture all the crowd excitement and the beauty shots from high up in the stadium for the exhibition game. The AVS package included a Thomson LDK-6000 camera with the Viper short back coupled with a Canon HJ11x4.7 wide angle lens. The microwave component was the Link HD 7GHz system whereby AVS provides camera control through the Thomson standard OCP. AVS also provided control for the Sony HDC-1500 camera through the standard Sony CCU panel, which is not the case of most suppliers.

"We were pleased to provide flawless RF coverage and take part in broadcasting this piece of Dodger history to baseball fans everywhere," said Randy Hermes, president of AVS. AVS is one of the largest providers of LinkXP and HD microwave systems in the world. They have SD and HD transmitters that operate in the 2GHz and 7GHz bands.
As a side note, the World Series champion Boston Red Sox beat the LA Dodgers 7 - 4.
