Al Watan TV in Kuwait, a leading private broadcaster in Kuwait, relied on a Link Research Digital Wireless Camera System to effectively cover the Kuwaiti Parliament Elections held on the 17th May 2008.

Ihab El Baba, Technical Director at Al Watan TV, stated "We needed a wireless camera system that was of the highest quality available in the market today and one that offered a solid link that could be depended on. Other criteria for selection was that we were looking for a system that was SD and HD software upgradable, offered camera control upgrade option in addition to RF frequency band flexibility and change options for the future. The result was that our coverage of the Kuwaiti Parliament Elections was a success and Link Research Wireless Camera system certainly contributed to this success. The performance of the Link system during the very sensitive period of the Kuwaiti elections was superb. "

The Regional Sales Manager for the Vislink Group based out of the Dubai office, Mather Al-Ali stated "Link Research is one of the companies under the ownership of the Vislink Group. Other companies include Advent Communications and Microwave Radio Communications all of which are being actively marketed within the Middle East region as of 2008. The Link wireless system offers not only a superb MPEG2 4:2:2 encoding system, but also offers COFDM DVB-T and LMS-T modulation schemes.  It is the unique Link Research LMS-T modulation that offers the users that extra connection strength and quality. Based on LMS-T 16QAM with 2/3 Code Rate, 1/16 Guard and 10 MHz channel, it is possible to deliver 19 Mbps of throughput which allows contribution quality HD and SD. With a 20 MHz channel, it is possible to deliver 39 Mbps for even higher quality HD or multiple SD or HD services in a single channel."

As the intellectual property of the encoding and modulation are internal to Link Research, the technology is implemented on FPGA integrated circuits which offer the end user many benefits including ultra low delay and software upgrade for minor and major feature releases including HD upgrade. We are delighted that Al Watan TV experience was a success."
